Appetite Guide

This article walks you through the Appetite Guide tool available in the portal.

Appetite Guide Video Overview:

The Appetite Guide is a valuable resource for agents, providing a quick reference to help determine whether a particular risk is likely to fall within or outside the appetite of the carriers available on the platform. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to access and use this tool.

Please note that the Appetite Guide evaluates risks based on only the NAICS/SIC code, state, and policy type. It does not account for additional factors such as coastal exposure, fire risk, wind exposure, or other underwriting considerations. As a result, this tool serves as a preliminary reference to help identify which carriers may be more inclined to write a risk for a specific industry. For a more comprehensive underwriting decision, further evaluation and additional criteria should be considered.

To access the Appetite Guide tool, you will want to select the Appetite Guide under the 'Tools' option in the navigation bar, as seen in the screenshot below.

Once in the tool, you will want to do the following:

1. Select whether you would like to use NAICS or SIC Code.
2. Type in the NAICS/SIC Code into the search bar. The search bar is generative so if you don't have the numerical code, try typing in a description of the particular industry (i.e. to find '722515 - RETAIL ICE CREAM STORE' as shown in screenshot below, you could simply type 'ICE CREAM' and you will see several options pop up).
3. Select the State for where you will be writing the risk.
4. Select the Policy Type.
5. Finally, click on the "Get Appetite Guide" button.
