Markel - How to Add your Broker Code

Use this guide to gather your appointment details and submit your broker code request so we can enable this carrier for digital quoting in CoverForce.

⛔ Please Note: CoverForce does not initiate or facilitate carrier appointment requests. You must already hold an active appointment with this carrier before completing the steps below.

Information You Will Need
Come prepared with the information below. Markel uses these details to recognize that a submission belongs to you, and having them on hand makes enabling your broker code and appointment for digital quoting quick and accurate.

  • Agent Email: Email address the agent uses to log in to their Markel account.
  • Primary Producer Name: First and last name of the licensed agent who holds this appointment. Must match Markel's system exactly.
  • Agency Name: The agency the appointment holder is associated with.
  • Network or Wholesaler Name: The organization you access CoverForce through.
  • Agency ID: The numeric code assigned to your agency by Markel (example: 927718).
  • Licensing Email: The mPortal email address of the agent who carries the licenses in all states and has the authority to bind a quote. Markel uses this to identify who can bind within your agency.
  • Servicing Email: The mPortal email address where all quote-related communication should be sent.

Both the Licensing Email and Servicing Email must be valid 🔗 mPortal logins.

How to find your Agency ID:

  1. Log in to 🔗 mPortal.
  2. Click Account in the top right.
  3. Click View next to the Personal and Address Information header.
  4. Your Agency ID and agency name appear in the right half of that section (see the screenshot below).

How to Find and Enable Your Broker Code in CoverForce

  1. Hover over the settings gear on the top navigation bar.
  2. Click on "Broker Configuration".
  3. Scroll through the carrier list and select the carrier you’d like to set up.
  4. Click "Add Broker ID" on the right side of the screen.
  5. Click the "Broker Code Approval Form" link.
  6. Complete and submit the Markel Broker Code Approval Form.

  1. Hover over the settings gear on the left navigation bar.
  2. Click “Broker Appointments”.
  3. Search for or scroll through the carrier you’d like to set up.
  4. Click “Add Broker ID” on the right side of the screen.
  5. Look for the Enable Digital Quoting box (blue-green).
  6. Click the “Broker Code Approval Form” link inside that box.
  7. Complete and submit the Markel Broker Code Approval Form.
